An ambitious food festival that covered the entire spectrum of culinary experiences proved to be a hit with city residents and visitors, drawing more than 40,000 people, according to the organisers of Copenhagen Cooking.
More than 100 different events and arrangements were featured across the city at this year’s festival, including gourmet tastings, children’s specialties, international food stands and even a Metro train carriage with its own temporary kitchen.
Copenhagen Cooking perhaps received particular attention this year, after the city’s Noma was crowned the world’s best restaurant. Taking after Noma, the festival also featured several events focusing on what is now termed ‘New Nordic’ food.
Festival organisers say this year’s success has resulted in the push for bigger ambitions for the event, such as having more top name chefs and more outdoor arrangements.
Copenhagen Cooking was established in 2004 and is organised by city tourist agency Wonderful Copenhagen.
