The Danes like sports – as participants, spectators and in front of the television. Almost two million actively participate in sports as members of an association. Almost two thirds of all children and young people are engaged in organised sports in their leisure time.
DANISH SPORT CULTURE
It is an official political objective that Danish sports should be for everyone, and sports activities are characterised by a parallel effort for the elite and the masses. The elite constitutes a very small proportion of the active sports people, but attracts most of the increasing media interest.
NEW PLAYGROUND FOR PARKOUR
Parkour is a sport, where you use your surroundings and create new ways of moving through the city. Everything from buildings, benches and stairs are used. The Danish Parkour team, Team JiYo, has designed a new area in Copenhagen, where you can practice.
FRIDAY NIGHT SKATE
Every other Friday over the summer, almost 500 people on wheels take over the streets of Copenhagen. With police escorte and confused spectators they roll through the inner city.
WORLD OUTGAMES - COPENHAGEN
The World Outgames is an international sporting and cultural event celebrating the talents and contributions of homosexual, bi-sexual and transgender men and women from every corner of the globe. World Outgames was held from 25 July - 2 August 2009 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
COLD HAWAII - THE DANISH CHAMPIONSHIP IN WINDSURFING
There is a small and windy place in northern Denmark called Klitmøller. It is also known as Cold Hawaii because of its great surfing conditions and cold climate. Kenneth is 25 years old and has moved to Klitmøller so he can windsurf every day. His goal is to win the Danish Championship in windsurfing.
COPENHAGEN PRO
Once again the best pro skateboarders from around the world converged in Copenhagen, Denmark for a weekend of heated pro competition on an all new course—great food, free beer, and tons of good times.
The CPH Pro 2009 took place at the CPH skate park in Copenhagen from June 26-28.
SPORT EVENT DENMARK
In 2009 more than 50 major international sports events are taking place all over Denmark, including the IOC Olympic Session and the Olympic Congress.

BMX ELITE RACES IN COPENHAGEN
The UCI BMX Supercross World Cup visited Copenhagen for the third year in a row. It was a great opportunity to try out the track before the World Champioships in 2011.
