Mayors, town planners and politicians from all over the world have visited Copenhagen often in recent years to study its bicycle traffic, district heating system or its waste management. In various respects Copenhagen is a role model for many of the world’s big cities when it comes to sustainable town development.
A BEACH IN THE HARBOUR
A new beach has been constructed in the harbor of Copenhagen. 23.000 cubic meters of sand have been moved to make the 4000 square meters of beach, which has grown popular very fast.
ECO-METROPOLIS OF THE WORLD
Copenhagen is Europe’s environmental city, taking the lead in a number of areas. Apart from being the city of bicycles, it has shown that it can keep its water and energy consumption constant.
SWIMMING IN COPENHAGEN HARBOUR
One of the trendiest spots in Copenhagen is the public outdoor swimming facility in the Islands Brygge area where Copenhageners come to relax during the summer.

GREEN LIGHTHOUSE
Green Lighthouse is the first CO2-neutral public building in Denmark. It has reduced the energy comsumption by up to 75 percent through its design.
