At the beginning of the new millennium, Danish cinema is experiencing a boom period of international recognition and national progress. This success found its origins in the 1970s through intensified public effort with the 1972 Film Act and the establishment of the Danish Film Institute.

The Danish film director Susanne Bier on February 27th claimed her first Oscar at the 83rd Annual Academy Awards. Bier's 2010 production "In a Better World" is a drama about the destruction of the idyll and the personal choice between revenge and pacifism

The Danish embassy in Bamako and the Centre for Culture and Development in the Danish Ministry of Culture are jointly supporting an innovative collaboration between a group of Danish filmmakers, including film director Per Fly, and Mali's Film Centre (CNCM).

CPH:PIX
CPH:PIX is a feature film festival that aims to bring people together to see good films from all over the world. The festival programme offers original, thought-provoking, funny and controversial films that can't be found in regular cinema programmes.
CPH:DOX
Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival is the largest documentary film festival in Scandinavia. Each year the festival fills the Copenhagen cinemas with a selection of more than 180 documentary films from around the world. During the ten festival days, CPH:DOX also dedicates five whole days to professional seminars and provides an international forum and meeting place with the newly founded DOX:FORUM.
COPENHAGEN GAY & LESBIAN FILM FESTIVAL
Copenhagen Gay & Lesbian Film Festival is the longest running gay and lesbian film festival in the world.
The festival will be running from October 22th to October 31th 2010.
