Research
A history of more than 500 years of scientific research provides the foundations of Danish society as we know it today. The products that surround us in our modern lives would not have been possible if it had not been for the knowledge and technology achieved through this process. The goal is for Danish research to continue to be innovative and possess the highest scientific quality.
ENERGY RESEARCH
The oil crisis in the 1970s and the international debate about environmental issues caused a change in priorities in the research policies for a number of companies and research institutions in Denmark. This development has put Denmark at the forefront of the development of alternative energy sources and fuel cells.
CLIMATE RESEARCH
Climate research and observations within climate in the broad sense of the word are going on at a number of institutes and organisations in Denmark. The research covers a wide range of disciplines, from natural science to evaluation of policies and measures and societal aspects.
ENVIRONMENTAL RESEARCH
Global and local environmental problems are growing in complexity. Human activities produce changes in the climate, proliferation of toxins, and the destruction of habitats for animals and plants.
All Danish universities have departments or centres devoted to environmental research.
